Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to order from Café Sel. Our goal is for online ordering (menu, cart, checkout and confirmation) to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA.
What we have in place
- Full ordering with the keyboard, with a visible focus indicator and a “Skip to content” link.
- Labelled form fields and precise error messages tied to each field.
- Screen-reader announcements when the cart changes or an error occurs.
- The cart panel works as a dialog: focus moves into it, stays there, and returns to where it was when closed; the Escape key closes it.
- The page language (French or English) is exposed to assistive technologies and updated when you switch language.
- Text contrast checked (ratio of at least 4.5:1); click targets at least 24 pixels.
- Reduced animation when your device asks for less motion.
- No time limit for filling in your order on our site.
Known limitations
- Payment happens on Stripe’s page, which we do not control. Stripe publishes its own accessibility commitments.
- The date picker is your browser’s own; its accessibility varies between browsers.
- Our checks used automated tools, keyboard testing and a real browser, but not yet people using assistive technologies. Your feedback helps.
